On Friday, President Uhuru Kenyatta will officially launch the Lake Turkana Wind Power (LTWP) project in Marsabit County, marking a significant milestone in Kenya's renewable energy sector.
The LTWP project, the largest wind farm in Africa, will inject 310 megawatts of clean energy into the national grid, contributing to the country's efforts to lower the cost of electricity and enhance energy diversification.
With 365 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 850 kilovolts, the zero-emission project is set to save 16 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions compared to fossil fuel power plants.
According to State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena, the low-cost energy generation plant will play a crucial role in the government's ongoing efforts to reduce the cost of electricity.
