On July 19, 2019, BAT Kenya announced a 25% increase in profit after tax, reaching Sh2.5 billion for the half-year to June. This represents a 25.5% growth compared to Sh2 billion reported over a similar period in 2018.
The company's revenue grew by 10% to Sh19 billion from Sh17.4 billion last year. However, higher taxes in Kenya led to a drop in sales volumes, despite pushing up revenues.
The revenue increase was also boosted by the sale of cut rag tobacco to markets like Sudan.
