July 18, 2019 - Sportpesa, a leading betting firm in Kenya, has dismissed rumors of its imminent shutdown following the government's directive to suspend operations of 27 gaming companies.

The company's management has been in talks with the government and stakeholders to clarify its business operations.

According to Sportpesa's communications manager, Jean Kiarie, the company is working closely with the authorities to resolve the issue.

"We are committed to ensuring that our operations continue as usual," Kiarie said in a statement.

The company has been at the center of controversy following the government's directive to suspend operations of 27 gaming companies, including Sportpesa.

The government has accused the companies of exploiting young people, and has vowed to take action against them.

However, Sportpesa has denied the allegations, saying that it has a responsible business model that prioritizes the welfare of its customers.

"We are committed to providing a safe and responsible gaming experience for our customers," the company said in a statement.
