Ronaldinho's Potential Return to Football: Birkirkara FC in Talks

Published on July 18, 2019, Brazilian legend Ronaldinho Gaucho is reportedly close to making a sensational return to football a year after announcing his retirement.

According to sources in Malta, Birkirkara FC, a Maltese Premier League side, is eager to sign the football icon.

Birkirkara's Technical Director Michael Valenzia confirmed that talks over a potential deal are ongoing.

"I can confirm that there exists the possibility that Birkirkara FC could sign Ronaldinho," he said.

Valenzia added, "There is nothing yet concluded but talks are ongoing and one has to be patient and see how things evolve."

Ronaldinho is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, having won numerous trophies with both club and country during his active playing years.

He won the FIFA Player of the Year award twice and the prestigious Ballon d'Or in 2005.

At international level, he was a key player in Brazil's World Cup triumph in 2002, when they stunned Germany 2-0 in the finals to lift the trophy.
