Published on July 18, 2019, Tottenham Hotspur has confirmed that midfielder Victor Wanyama will rejoin his teammates for pre-season training next week.
Wanyama was absent from the squad for the 2019 International Champions Cup matches in Singapore and Shanghai due to his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt with the national team in June and July.
During his time with the national team, Wanyama played in all three matches for Kenya in Group C against Algeria, Tanzania, and Senegal.
According to a statement from the club, Serge Aurier, Davinson Sanchez, and Victor Wanyama will return to Enfield to start pre-season training next week following commitments with their national teams at summer tournaments.
Wanyama's return to the team comes after he was believed to be on holiday following the AFCON assignment, putting to bed rumors that the former Celtic and Southampton midfielder was set to leave the club.
With the arrival of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon, Wanyama will face stiff midfield competition once the 2019/20 season kicks off.
Last season, he only played in 13 Premier League games due to a nagging knee injury.
