Published on July 18, 2019, the original Gossip Girl series, which aired on The CW from 2007 to 2012, is getting a spinoff.

The new show, part of WarnerMedia's HBO Max streaming service, will follow a new group of elite New York City private school teens, exploring how social media and the city have evolved since the original series.

While there is no word yet on whether original stars like Blake Lively or Leighton Meester will be involved, the original show launched the careers of several notable actors, including Lively, who played Serena van der Woodsen.

The original Gossip Girl series, based on the YA novels by Cecily von Ziegesar, was known for its high fashion content and scandalous antics.

WarnerMedia has made a straight-to-series order of 10 one-hour episodes for the new series, which will be available on HBO Max this fall, alongside other highly anticipated programs like Batwoman and Katy Keene.
