Published on July 18, 2019, a wise saying goes, “show me your friend and I’ll show you who you are.” It’s essential to surround yourself with genuine friends who care about your well-being. However, some individuals can masquerade as friends, wasting your time and energy. To help you avoid such toxic relationships, here are seven tell-tale signs to identify a friend who is full of BS.

1. Pessimistic

Dealing with someone who constantly looks at the dark side of life can be exhausting. They often complain about trivial matters, and it’s not about you; it’s their problem to resolve.

2. Selfish

When someone’s entire focus is on themselves, it gets tiring being their yes-man. A true friend prioritizes your needs and feelings, not just their own.

3. Opportunistic

Be cautious of friends who only reach out when they need something. If the answer is yes, it’s time to reevaluate the friendship. They might be using you for personal gain, and once they achieve their goal, they’ll discard you.

4. Backstabber

Identify the friend who shares your secrets with others. Try this test: share a different secret with each friend, and see whose secret gets back to you first. This will reveal the snitch in your circle.

5. Trouble Makers

Friends who frequently get into fights or cause trouble can put you in harm’s way. A true friend wouldn’t jeopardize your safety or well-being.

6. Not Supportive

A friend who never makes time for you or supports your goals and aspirations is not a friend at all. They might be holding you back from reaching your full potential.

7. Vindictive

Be wary of friends who try to sabotage your life or make you feel unhappy and insecure. You don’t need negativity in your life, and it’s time to distance yourself from such toxic relationships.

The best course of action is to eliminate these toxic friends from your life or limit your interactions with them. Your well-being and happiness depend on it.
