On June 3, 2022, a significant milestone was achieved in the Seme Parliamentary seat race as MajiMaji Julius Owino, an independent aspirant, was cleared to vie for the seat in Kisumu County.
His supporters, who had gathered outside the IEBC Office, erupted into joy and celebration upon hearing the news, breaking into song and dance.
MajiMaji, who had previously decamped from the ODM party, expressed his gratitude to his supporters for standing by him in his decision to go independent.
He described his quest for the parliamentary seat as unstoppable, stating that it was time for a young blood to lead Seme Constituency.
"I'm now officially a Seme MP candidate recognised by IEBC. This is a 1st win for democracy in my public leadership journey. Our symbol in henceforth is the 'ORANGE BULB' that forever will stand for restoration and the fight for DEMOCRACY & SERVANT leadership. Let's adopt and move to the future courageously," said MajiMaji.
