Microsoft Appoints New MD for Nairobi Innovation Hub

On June 3, 2022, Microsoft Africa Development Centre (ADC) announced the appointment of Catherine Muraga as its new managing director, succeeding Jack Ngare who led the centre since its inception in 2019.

Muraga, a seasoned IT professional, brings over a decade of experience in the industry, having previously led the engineering team at Stanbic Bank Kenya and South Sudan, and served as the Director of IT and Operations at Sidian Bank.

Her appointment comes weeks after Microsoft unveiled a multibillion-shilling office and labs for ADC at Dunhill Towers in Westlands, Nairobi.

"I am excited to be joining the ADC at this particular time and look forward to continuing the tremendous work that has already begun," Muraga said.

As the new managing director, Muraga will oversee over 450 full-time employees at the ADC, one of the largest software engineering facilities in Africa.

The ADC is part of Microsoft's ongoing plans to enable digital transformation, bridge gaps in infrastructure, connectivity, and capability, and create a sustained societal impact on the continent.
