Published on July 18, 2019, a paid advert in local dailies warned the public about the theft of over 1,000 laptops from the Inland Container Depot in Nairobi.
The anonymous advertiser claimed the laptops were stolen in May and a report was made at the Inland Port Police Station on May 22.
According to the advert, members of the public are urged not to buy any laptops with serial numbers below a certain threshold and to report any recovered devices to the nearest police station.
It is unclear who owns the stolen laptops.
Notably, in August 2018, police officers in Nairobi recovered 254 laptops believed to have been stolen from a house in the Kilimani area.
Additionally, in May 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta made an impromptu visit to the inland depot following complaints by traders whose goods had been confiscated.
