Microsoft's African Development Centre (ADC) has welcomed a new leader, with Catherine Muraga appointed as its Managing Director, effective June 1, 2022. The announcement was made on June 2, 2022.

Catherine brings over 15 years of experience in the IT industry, having worked in various sectors such as manufacturing, aviation, and banking. She succeeds Jack Ngare, who led the ADC since its inception in 2019.

“I am excited to be joining the ADC at this particular time and look forward to continuing the tremendous work that has already begun,” Catherine said in a statement.

Before joining Microsoft, Catherine held leadership positions at Stanbic Bank Kenya and South Sudan, and was previously the Director of IT and Operations at Sidian Bank.

She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from Africa Nazarene University and has also attended the Columbia Business School Digital Strategies for Business and Oxford University Fintech Programme.

The ADC, which relocated to its new ultra-modern facility at Dunhill Towers along Waiyaki Way in March, has grown to over 450 full-time employees working in various areas, including software engineering, machine learning, and data science.
