Deputy President William Ruto and Azimio la Umoja flag bearer Raila Odinga are back on the campaign trail after celebrating Madaraka Day.

On Wednesday, the two leaders joined President Uhuru Kenyatta at Uhuru Gardens to mark the national holiday.

As the August 9 presidential election draws near, Ruto and Odinga are vying for the top seat, with each side seeking to rally the most votes.

According to Ruto's itinerary, he will be drumming up support in Makueni and Machakos Counties, starting with a visit to Wote town at 8 am to chair an economic forum.

Later in the day, he will be in Sultan Hamud Town, Kilome Constituency, and Kola Market in Machakos Town.

Meanwhile, the Azimio team will be holding a presidential rally in Visions Grounds-Mukuru Kwa Njenga, with unconfirmed reports suggesting that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka may attend.
