On June 1, 2022, President Uhuru Kenyatta was addressing thousands of Kenyans at Uhuru Gardens to celebrate the 59th Madaraka Day when a man attempted to interrupt his speech.

The man, identified as Julius Kamau, was reportedly protesting against President Kenyatta's leadership, accusing him of lying to Kenyans and stealing their future.

President Kenyatta, however, chose to ignore the interruption and continued with his speech, while police swiftly contained the situation by whisking Kamau away from the presidential dais.

According to reports, this was not the first time Kamau had attempted to interrupt speeches of top government officials. Two weeks prior, he had been whisked away for interrupting IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati at the Bomas of Kenya.

As Kamau ranted, he shouted, 'You have stolen our future… you have stolen our country, our future… we cannot continue being treated as slaves in our own country…we must stand up now and fight for the truth as we know it.'
