On June 1, 2022, President Uhuru Kenyatta held a small event at State House to celebrate his final Madaraka Day, ahead of the main event at Uhuru Gardens.
The head of state was joined by all cabinet secretaries, Attorney General Kihara Kariuki, and senior staff at State House, but Deputy President William Ruto was notably absent.
President Kenyatta expressed gratitude to the electorates for giving him two terms in power since 2013, under the Jubilee Party.
"Yangu ni kusema asante sana kwa kazi na mungu azidi kuwabariki na kubariki Kenya," President Kenyatta said, thanking the electorates for their support.
He also praised his cabinet team for their efforts in transforming the nation over the past decade, saying they had laid a firm foundation for future leaders to build upon.
