On May 28, a disturbing incident unfolded in the Otiende region of Nairobi County's Lang'ata sub-county, where a man's disagreement with his mother over mobile data escalated into a threat.

Carvin Biko Olilo, the accused, pleaded guilty to the charges before Kibera senior principal magistrate Monica Maroro on Tuesday.

According to court records, Olilo had crept into his mother's room at 4:30 a.m. and demanded mobile data. His mother, Dorothy Amino, tried to persuade him to wait until sunrise, but he refused.

Olilo then seized a stool and threatened to strike his mother on the head with it. After some pressure, the mother agreed to give him some money, which he took and vowed to beat her up every day once he finished his studies.

As the court heard, Olilo promised his mother that he would beat her up every evening after finishing his studies.

The alleged offender was apprehended and arraigned after the mother reported the incident to the police.

Magistrate Maroro ordered that the case be heard on June 13 so that a probation report could be filed in court.
