On June 1, 2022, organisers of the 78th Rally Poland announced that Kenyan driver McRae Kimathi and Estonian Junior World Rally Championship competitor Robert Virves would be driving Ford Fiesta Rally3 cars.
McRae Kimathi, 27, had previously competed in the Rally Portugal, finishing fifth in the JWRC category. He will use the June 11-12 Rally Poland as preparation for the WRC Safari Rally and the seventh round of the WRC in Estonia.
According to the European Rally Championship, the high-speed roads around the Masurian lake district will be used as a warm-up for the penultimate round of the WRC's one-make junior series at Rally Estonia in July.
Robert Virves, a six-time Junior WRC rally podium finisher, is currently fourth in the standings, while McRae Kimathi lies sixth in the JWRC in his maiden year.
