On May 31, 2022, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) cleared several candidates to vie for various seats in the upcoming elections.
Among those cleared was KANU national chairman Gideon Moi, who will defend his Baringo Senate seat. This move ends speculation that Moi would not be defending his seat due to the perceived United Democratic Alliance (UDA) wave in Rift Valley.
Jeremiah Kioni, the Jubilee Secretary-General, has also been cleared by the IEBC to defend his Ndaragwa constituency seat.
