On June 25th, a tragic incident occurred on Valley Road in Nairobi when a 28-year-old Kenyan woman, Florence Wanjiku, was pushed out of a moving matatu by the driver and conductor, Joseph Muasya and John Ndwai.

Wanjiku, who was traveling home from Hurlinghum, was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

On July 17th, Muasya and Ndwai were arraigned before High Court judge Jessie Lessit, but did not take a plea as the court directed them to undergo a mental examination before being charged with murder.

The two operated a public service vehicle belonging to Kileton SACCO and will be charged on July 25th.

Earlier, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) revoked the licenses of the two, with Director-General Francis Meja stating that the driver and conductor will never be allowed to operate public service vehicles in the country.
