On May 30, 2022, Kenyan authorities apprehended Badru Abdul Aziz Saleh, a suspect in a high-profile US narcotics trafficking case, at Liboi in Garissa County.

According to a police source, Saleh was attempting to cross into Somalia when he was arrested.

The US Embassy in Nairobi had offered a Sh100 million bounty for information leading to Saleh's capture, which was announced on May 26, 2022.

US authorities praised the public for aiding in Saleh's capture, stating that the information leading to his arrest came in response to the reward announcement.

“Mr Saleh is in police custody in Nairobi. The information leading to Saleh’s capture came in response to the May 26 announcement of rewards seeking information leading to the arrest, prosecution, and conviction of Saleh and Abdi Hussein Ahmed,” read a statement from the US Embassy.

His accomplice, Abdi Hussein Ahmed, remains at large and is still being sought by authorities.
