On Friday, the Rhino Charge will take place in Suswa, Narok County, with Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) through their Whitecap brand, having announced a Sh2 million sponsorship.
According to KBL senior brand manager Abel Ratemo, Sh1.5 million will be used for event logistics, while Sh500,000 will support Team 19 Bush Babes, an all-female team.
Team 19 Bush Babes are among 64 teams participating in this year's event, including defending champions Bundufundi.
The Rhino Charge, launched in 1989, is an annual off-road 4x4 competition that raises funds for the Charitable Trust Rhino Ark, which supports conservation efforts in Kenya's mountain range ecosystems.
Since its inception, the event has raised over Sh1.6 billion, with last year's edition generating Sh1.05 million, which was invested in conservation efforts around Baringo County.
Abel Ratemo commended Rhino Ark Charity for its role in environmental conservation through the competition, stating that KBL was pleased to support the initiative.
“We are excited to be part of the Rhino Charge competition for the second year running. Our experience was nothing short of special as we got to enjoy the unique adventure that is the Charge,” said Ratemo.
