Wanini Kireri, the commandant of the Prison Staff Training College in Ruiru, has passed away while receiving treatment at the AAR Hospital along Kiambu Road.
Commissioner General of Prisons John Warioba confirmed her death, highlighting Ms Kireri's illustrious career in the Kenya Prisons Service, which spanned over four decades.
Ms Kireri was enlisted as a cadet officer in 1982 and went on to serve in various capacities within the prisons service, earning a reputation as a dedicated and selfless officer.
Brigadier (Rtd) Warioba expressed his condolences to Ms Kireri's family and the Kenya Prisons fraternity, stating that further information on funeral arrangements would be communicated later.
