On Tuesday, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) selected Mohamed Mdigo Mwamkale, the younger brother of the late Rabai MP William Kamoti, as the party's candidate for the Rabai parliamentary seat.
According to Kilifi ODM Chairperson Teddy Mwambire, the decision was made after the party settled on Mwamkale, a former chairperson of the Mariakani town council.
Although cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to vie for the seat, the late Kamoti died on Sunday in a road accident on the Kilifi-Mombasa highway, while heading home.
Mwamkale previously served as a Kaliang'ombe ward councilor in Kaloleni constituency from 2002 to 2007.
