On May 31, 2022, the National Irrigation Authority (NIA) announced a five-day mass auction of motor vehicles, tractors, and other items in various irrigation schemes across Kenya.
The auction exercise is scheduled to take place at different locations, starting from June 9, 2022, and concluding on June 24, 2022. Interested bidders can visit the irrigation schemes to assess the state of the motor vehicles on auction.
For instance, the auction exercise at Mwea Irrigation Scheme is scheduled for Monday, June 20, 2022, with target properties including motor vehicles and heavy machinery equipment.
Other properties on auction include assorted batteries, spare parts, tires, office equipment, office furniture, and electrical fittings. The auction exercise will conclude on Friday, June 24, 2022, at Bura Irrigation Scheme.
Interested bidders are advised to pay a non-refundable fee of Ksh500 for a catalog of the vehicles and other items. To enter the draw, all interested bidders must also deposit Ksh10,000 refundable deposits for the vehicles and tractors and Ksh5,000 for the other property.
"Vehicles and all disposable items (stores and equipment) are sold 'as-is-where-is-basis' and the sale is subject to reserve price," read the notice in part.
