On July 17, 2019, Nigeria's Super Eagles secured a 1-0 win over Tunisia at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt, earning them a bronze medal at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Odion Ighalo scored the only goal of the game in the 3rd minute, stretching his goal tally to five and putting him in contention for the golden boot award at the end of the tournament.

Coach Gernot Rohr's men got off to a bright start, with Ighalo tapping in the ball from a goalmouth scramble after Jamilu Collins made a run into the opponent's defence from the left flank.

However, the tempo of the game dropped in the first half, with both teams failing to create convincing chances. The Carthage Eagles made several attempts to get at least a goal, but the Super Eagles were decent enough to defend their lone strike.

On the stroke of half time, Ighalo suffered a hamstring injury and was escorted into the dressing room, unable to continue the game. Victor Osimhen was handed his AFCON debut by the coach but failed to make an impact in the game.

Despite the injury, Ighalo could still emerge as the golden boot winner after scoring five goals at the 32nd edition of the championship.
