On Wednesday, Atletico Madrid announced the signing of England right-back Kieran Trippier from Tottenham Hotspur, a move that marks the latest development in the Spanish club's backline overhaul.

Trippier, who scored his only England goal in a World Cup semi-final against Croatia last year, has agreed a three-year deal with Atletico Madrid.

According to Spanish and British media, Atletico Madrid are paying Tottenham Hotspur a fee of 22 million euros ($24.7 million) for the 29-year-old defender.

Trippier has played 16 times for England and has made 114 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur since joining the London club from Burnley in 2015.

Atletico Madrid have been busy this summer, signing several new defenders, including Brazilian pair Renan Lodi and Felipe, and Portuguese teenager Joao Felix for 126 million euros.
