As the 12th Parliament draws to a close, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has directed all Committee Chairpersons to table their respective exit reports during the sittings of the House from 7th to 9th June 2022.
According to a statement by the Speaker, committees are obligated to table exit reports containing work they have done during the term, indicating any pending matters before them and detailing reasons for their inability to complete the work.
Standing Order 200A requires committees to submit exit reports, which will be tabled in the House during the upcoming sittings.
Additionally, the Clerk of the National Assembly has been directed to issue a formal notification to all Members and to facilitate the clearance process by individual Members ahead of the end of the term of this Parliament.
Garissa MP Aden Duale has also raised concerns about the appointment of the Secretary to the Cabinet, who must be vetted and approved by the house, as stipulated in the Assumption of the Office of the President Act no. 21 of 2012.
On 26th May 2022, Speaker Justin Muturi issued a directive to Committee Chairpersons, Members of Parliament, and the Clerk of the National Assembly.
