Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi has expressed optimism about the country's election preparedness, citing a significant reduction in election violence cases.

According to data from the Inspector General's office, election violence cases have decreased to about a quarter of what was recorded in 2017. This, Matiangi believes, demonstrates the country's progress in ensuring peaceful elections.

Speaking during a roundtable meeting between the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) and the National Development Implementation Communication Cabinet Committee (NDICCC), Matiangi emphasized the government's commitment to a peaceful electioneering period.

"Incidences of crime and hooliganism related to elections have significantly reduced compared to the same period in the last election. We are going to have one of the most peaceful elections in the country," Matiangi stated.

He urged business leaders to make their plans without fear, assuring them that all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure a safe and secure environment.

KEPSA CEO Carol Kariuki also expressed her organization's commitment to supporting the government in ensuring a peaceful election and smooth transition.

"We are challenging Kenyans to 'kagua before uchague' and we all know the question governing this election is corruption and the economy so please make the right choice," she stated.
