Education officials have been given six weeks to inspect junior classrooms constructed in private schools, according to Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha.
Speaking in Kiambu County during a tour of the 100% transition mop up exercise of form ones at Kiandutu slums on May 19, 2022, Magoha also instructed all Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) classroom contractors to submit their documents for payment at Jogoo House by the end of the month.
Magoha directed Kenya University of Colleges Central Placement (KUCCPS) to open its systems for university and college placement application and revision of choices.
“On the issue of primary schools in the private sector, there are very many private schools which have already constructed an extra classroom for CBC and am going to direct the Director Quality Assurance Ministry of Education Dr. Mary Gaturu to go full blast supported by PS Dr. Julius Jwan that these schools should be inspected within the next six weeks so that the public is aware that the following private primary schools are going to be used as Junior Secondary Schools,” said Magoha.
Magoha also urged all education officials and administrators to ensure every learner who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam in 2021 must be taken and admitted to secondary school.
