The Jubilee administration's 100 per cent transition policy for pupils joining secondary schools has been widely celebrated as one of its greatest achievements.
The policy aims to ensure that all students complete free, equitable, and quality primary and secondary education, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 Target 1.
However, the reality on the ground is that millions of children worldwide are out of school due to various reasons, including low income levels, peer pressure, and lack of support from parents and guardians.
Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has taken a proactive approach to address this issue by launching a door-to-door campaign to trace pupils who sat the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) last year but have yet to take up their Form One slots.
Dr. Kapkiai, a lecturer in the School of Education and Human Resource Development at Kisii University, praises Magoha's efforts, stating that he is leading from the front and should be trusted and respected for his serious concern about the 100 per cent transition.
