On July 17, 2019, a story circulated that Ugandan socialite and entrepreneur Zari Hassan had expressed admiration for Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.
However, Zari took to Instagram to clarify that the story was false, sharing a screenshot of a local daily that carried the story.
According to a previous interview with South Africa's Jacaranda FM, Zari had expressed respect for Sonko, describing him as a mature man with a good heart for the disadvantaged.
But Zari was quick to shut down the rumors, stating that she has no interest in Sonko and has never met him.
"This nonsense from this man should stop. No, I have no crush on you, I don’t know you, never met you or anything. Please let me be," she said.
She also added that Sonko is not the kind of man she would be interested in, saying "Ps. You are not my type".
