Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has announced a crackdown on schools using private vehicles to transport national examination materials. This move aims to curb cheating and ensure a fair examination process.

According to Magoha, secondary school heads who make alternative arrangements to use private cars will face punishment. He emphasized that only government vehicles will be allowed to transport exam materials to and from examination centers.

Magoha also pointed out the importance of identifying all staff providing services such as catering and security, and presenting their identification to center supervisors at the start of the national examinations.

He stated, "The aim is to curb cases where some individuals pass themselves off as school staff only to assist in cheating."

Additionally, Magoha instructed schools to wind up all co-curricular activities this term, as the ban on these activities and visiting days during the third term still stands.

He said, "No parent will be allowed to visit schools during the third term as we prepare for the national examinations."

Magoha reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring a credible examination process, stating, "We are determined to stamp out cases of irregularities associated with the poor management of our national examinations in the past, so that the results obtained from the KNEC are credible."

Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams will start from October 28 to 31, while Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams will start on November 4, 2019, and end on November 27, 2019.

Security surveillance around examination centers will be extended beyond the school compounds up to a radius of two kilometers.
