On April 25, 2022, musician Bahati was in tears after being told by the Jubilee Party to step down as the candidate for the Member of Parliament seat for Mathare. However, in a surprising turn of events, the party has now awarded him the nomination certificate.
According to sources, the certificate was awarded at an event presided over by Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni.
Speaking during a press briefing, Bahati expressed his gratitude and respect for the party's decision, saying, 'This is a sign of hope. I respect my president and I respect honourable Raila Amolo Odinga but please give the youth of this country a chance.'
It is worth noting that the Jubilee Party is part of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party, and the Mathare area has been zoned as an ODM area. However, the party's decision to support Bahati has been seen as a sign of hope for the youth of the country.
