President Uhuru Kenyatta has been urged by Senior Counsel Ahmednassir Abdulahi to disband Nairobi County, which the lawyer claims is 'functionally dead' and a 'national disaster.'
Abdulahi made the call on May 10, 2018, in a tweet where he petitioned the President to exercise his constitutional prerogative and disband the county government, allowing the national government to take over all services and functions.
Abdulahi's call comes as he has been at odds with Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, whom he has accused of associating with goons who assaulted CBD boss Timothy Muriuki.
Many have agreed with Abdulahi's sentiments, with some even suggesting that the President has a 'golden opportunity' to take back the city and restore order.
As one Twitter user noted, 'Wise Leaders can see very far,' and Abdulahi's call for the disbandment of Nairobi County is seen as a wise move to prevent further chaos and disorder in the city.
