On July 16, 2019, a group of Tanzanian journalists were caught on camera scrambling for handouts during a live event at the Swahili Flix launch.
According to eyewitnesses, the journalists had arrived at the event to cover the proceedings but ended up competing with each other for freebies.
One of the journalists, Irene Uwoya, was seen rushing to grab a few notes that had been thrown into the crowd, while others were seen scrambling to get their hands on the freebies.
The incident sparked outrage on social media, with many people expressing their disappointment and disgust at the behavior of the journalists.
"Waandishi hapo mmeaibishwa sasa kama alitaka kuwapa hela kwa nini asinge wekea kwenye bahasha!?", one of the commenters wrote.
