Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has expressed concern over the low student turnout in this year's admission, citing parents' hopes of transferring their children to different schools.
Speaking at Kisumu Girls High School on Saturday, Magoha stated that the government will intervene to ensure that all students report to their assigned schools, unless under special circumstances.
Magoha emphasized that every student should report to their assigned school, as every Kenyan school is well-funded and every child is funded at the same level.
“Children should go to schools where they are placed unless there are special circumstances. Like maybe medical…that we can permit. Every Kenyan school is well-funded, every child is funded at the same level,” Magoha said.
He further warned parents against keeping their children at home, citing that a child's performance is determined by their self-drive and discipline, not by the school they attend.
Magoha also expressed disappointment in school principals for not yet starting to register students for the upcoming exams.
