Golden Boot Race Heats Up at AFCON 2019 ¶
With just two matches left to conclude the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, the tournament's best finishers are angling for the prestigious Golden Boot award.
Senegal and Algeria have already booked a place in the finals, while Nigeria will face Tunisia on Wednesday, July 17, to fight for a third-place finish.
Nigeria striker Odion Ighalo is currently leading the top goalscorers chart with four goals, having scored from the spot in the Super Eagles' 2-1 loss to Algeria in their semi-final clash on Sunday, July 14.
However, Ighalo faces stiff competition from three other players, including Sadio Mane and Algeria's Riyad Mahrez and Adam Ounas, all of whom are on three goals.
DR Congo's Cédric Bakambu is the other player on three goals but is currently out of the race after his country bowed out of the tournament in the Round of 16.
Mane could potentially be leading the list should he have not missed two penalties in the early stages of the competition.
