Guinea Football Federation has announced the sacking of Belgian coach Paul Put following the team's poor performance at the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Put was appointed as Guinea coach after resigning as Harambee Stars coach in Kenya in 2017. He had previously led Harambee Stars to win the 2017 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup.

Guinea was eliminated from the tournament in the round of 16 after losing 3-0 to Algeria in Cairo.

According to Guinea FA president Antonio, the decision to sack Put was due to unsatisfactory sports results and poor participation in AFCON 2019.

Put's sacking comes as no surprise, given the team's disappointing performance in the tournament. He now joins a growing list of coaches who have been shown the door after an unimpressive campaign in the continental tournament.
