Mark Batchelor, a former South African footballer, was tragically killed in a shooting near his home in Johannesburg, the country's capital.

Police spokesperson Col Lungelo Dlamini stated, "He was shot through the window several times and died at the scene," as reported by TimesLive.

Batchelor played for top South African clubs, including Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, and is being mourned by his former colleagues.

Steve Lekoelea, who played with Batchelor at Orlando Pirates, remembered him as a dedicated player who "always wanted to perfect his game and he was a team player."
