TV Personalities Who Have Faced Murder Charges ¶
Several high-profile TV personalities have found themselves in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, facing murder charges that have derailed their careers.
Published on July 16, 2019.
Esther Arunga, a former TV host, pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact to manslaughter in the death of her three-year-old son, Sinclair Timberlake, who died in June 2014 due to blunt force trauma.
Her husband, Quincy Timberlake, was charged with Sinclair's murder, and Esther admitted to misleading police to help him escape punishment.
Another TV personality, Louis Otieno, was cleared by police of any wrongdoing in the murder of Careen Chepchumba, but his career never recovered.
Moses Dola, a former journalist, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for allegedly killing his wife, Wambui Kabiru, in 2011.
According to Dola, the argument that led to Wambui's death started over high gospel music, and he claimed that she charged at him with scissors before he tackled her and they both fell on the bed.
Wambui's last words were 'ona umeniumiza' (see you have hurt me), and Dola testified that he went to his brother-in-law's house to seek a truce with his wife before they both went to drink.
Lastly, Jacque Maribe, a former Citizen reporter, was arrested alongside her fiancé, Joseph Irungu, alias Jowie, for aiding in the murder of businesswoman Monicah Kimani. Their case is still ongoing.
