On a Sunday night in July 2019, a thief broke into the Pentecostal Evangelistic Fellowship of Africa church in Engineer town, Kinangop, Nyandarua County, in search of money.
However, the burglar left empty-handed, and in a surprising twist, he later wrote an apology letter to the church and its congregants, seeking forgiveness.
The letter, signed by 'the person who broke the church,' reads: 'Dear fellow Christians, first and foremost good morning. I was sent here by one of your fellow Christians who told me that some amount of money has been kept inside the church, but I got nothing. God bless you all and pray for me. Thanks.'
Reverend Peter Wanyoike, in charge of the PEFA church, confirmed receiving the letter and stated that the culprit will be forgiven.
However, Reverend Wanyoike suggested that it would have been more prudent for the burglar to appear in person and confess his sins.
Reverend Peter Thuo of the nearby KAG Church expressed shock at the attempted theft at a place of worship, saying: 'People should repent and receive salvation because God watches everything they do.'
