On May 3, 2019, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) announced the arrest of four suspects who were captured on video assaulting a man. The suspects were identified as Robert Momanyi, Collins Neriko, Stanley Rimbere, and Stephen Kimeu.

According to the DCI, the suspects were part of a gang that dealt in fake gold, shisha, cocaine, and fake currencies. The gang was linked to President Uhuru Kenyatta's personal assistant and nephew, Jomo Gecaga.

The victim, a university student named Kevin Lloyd Mango, was lured into a house along Kirichwa Road by the gang. He was beaten for 13 hours by seven men, including the suspects, who used batons, whips, sticks, utensils, and other weapons.

The assault began immediately Mango arrived at the house. He was attacked by two men with a frying pan and whip, and shortly after, three more members of the gang joined them, dragging him out of the house and attacking him severely.

Mango reported the matter at Kilimani Police Station under OB75/02/05/19, but police officers were instructed by sources close to State House to write that he was assaulted after stealing a phone from the gang.
