The National Boxing League's third leg will be held in Mombasa from July 18 to 20, where coaches will select the national team for the All African Games.
According to the Boxing Association of Kenya, the event will serve as a league tournament and selection trials for the continental games in Rabat, Morocco next month.
Kenya hopes to send 10 boxers to the three-week event, with league champions Kenya Defence Forces and former champions Kenya Prisons confirmed to participate.
Boxing Association of Kenya Secretary General David Munuhe stated that they have adhered to the Sports Act in all their operations and are confident the government will fund their activities ahead of the All Africa Games.
After selection of the provisional squad, the boxers will begin residential training.
The teams competing in the event include eight clubs and 14 counties, with National Super Heavyweight champion Fredrick Ramogi of Kenya Defence Forces confident of making the final squad.
“Players will be picked on merit for us to come up with a formidable squad that can win medals at the continental games,” Munuhe said.
