Johnson Sakaja, the current Nairobi Governor, was born in 1985 in Nairobi's Parklands, in the then government quarters, as the last born in a family of three siblings.
His leadership qualities were evident from a young age, and he went on to attend Aga Khan Nursery and Primary School up to 1998.
After completing his primary education, Sakaja joined Lenana School for his secondary education in 1999.
At Lenana, he excelled as the prefects' coordinator and law society vice-chairman, and even won the best public speaker award at the National Music Festivals with a topic titled 'My Country Kenya.'
However, his plans to attend Harvard University were derailed when he failed to raise the necessary fees, despite passing the entry exams.
Undeterred, Sakaja joined the University of Nairobi, where he graduated with a degree in Actuarial Science.
After completing his studies, he landed his first job at Pricewatercoopers (PwC) at the age of 19.
Although he lost his job a year later, Sakaja continued to pursue his entrepreneurial spirit, working at a cyber cafe with his aunt and even producing music.
He developed an interest in rapping and wrote several songs, but never pursued recording or releasing them.
Instead, he focused on his business ventures, including setting up a financial consultancy firm, Arthur Johnson Consultants, during his fourth year in campus.
The firm is still actively running, a testament to Sakaja's entrepreneurial spirit and determination.
