On 25th April, President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta visited Parliament Buildings in Nairobi to pay their respects to the late President Mwai Kibaki, whose body was lying in state.

The President's visit came as the country's top leaders continued to engage in succession politics, with Uhuru backing ODM leader Raila Odinga to succeed him after the August 9 General Election.

However, the event was marred by an awkward moment when Uhuru refused to shake hands with his deputy William Ruto, who was among the leaders who welcomed him.

Instead of a handshake, Uhuru bowed with his clasped hands together and walked away, sparking speculation about the rift between the two leaders.

The rift between Uhuru and Ruto has been brewing for months, with the two leaders trading barbs over corruption and leadership.
