Microsoft's Africa Development Centre (ADC) has lost its Managing Director, Jack Ngare, who joined the company in 2019. Ngare's exit comes on the heels of the launch of a major new ADC facility in Nairobi on March 24, attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Ngare confirmed his departure in a social media post on April 25, hinting at a new career adventure. He expressed gratitude for his time at Microsoft, saying it had been a 'life-changing few years' that put Kenya and Africa on the global software engineering map.

Ngare's exit is the latest in a series of high-profile moves by global tech giants in Kenya. Microsoft's ADC centre was followed by the announcement of a Google Product Development Centre in Nairobi, which will be the company's first in Africa. Visa has also opened an innovation hub in Nairobi, and AWS is setting up a local zone, triggering increased competition for tech talent.

Before joining Microsoft ADC, Ngare ran Finserve Africa, Equity Group's fintech division, and has worked in several other organizations, including Stanbic, NIC Bank, and British Telecom.
