Chelsea has made a significant move to secure the future of one of its young stars, Mason Mount, by signing him to a new five-year contract.

Mount, who joined Chelsea at the age of six, has been rewarded for his impressive loan spell at Derby County under Frank Lampard last season, which earned him a call-up to the England national team.

On signing his new deal, Mount expressed his pride and gratitude, saying, "It's a massively proud moment for myself and my family. I joined this club at six years old and it was always my goal to play for the first team one day."

He added, "I'm really looking forward to the coming season now and working hard to have an impact here at Chelsea. I've been at the club for a long time already and hopefully I'll stay for a long time to come."

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia praised Mount, saying, "Mason has come right the way through the Chelsea Academy and has always stood out as a fantastic talent and dedicated individual."

Mount has already made a positive start to the new season, scoring in Chelsea's pre-season friendly victory over St Patrick's and traveling with the first-team squad for the Japan tour.
