On April 23, 2022, Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha confirmed that school fees for free education had already been disbursed for the first term, which was set to kick off on Monday.
According to Magoha, 19.9 billion shillings had been allocated to cater for free day secondary education and free primary education programs.
Speaking at the unveiling of the 2021 KCSE results, Magoha emphasized the ministry's commitment to ensuring the smooth running of schools when they reopened.
He specifically asked school heads not to send students home for fees, assuring that the necessary funds were in place.
Of the allocated funds, 16.9 billion shillings were set aside for free day secondary education, while 3 billion shillings were allocated to the free primary education program.
