On April 23, 2022, Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha released the National Secondary Examination results at Mitihani House, marking the last national exam under President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration.
Jariel Ndeda Obura of Mang'u High School emerged as the top performer with a mean score of 87.16 per cent.
Magoha announced that 145,000 students scored C+ and above, while 1,138 students achieved a plain A.
Notably, over 50,000 students will be heading for training in preparation for junior secondary school, as the country transitions from grade 6.
However, Magoha also highlighted several malpractices, including teachers coaching students before exams and being in possession of mobile phones at examination centres.
Over 800,000 students sat for the exams in 2021 across 10,413 centres.
