AFCON 2019: Senegal's Loss of Star Defender Kalidou Koulibaly ¶
Senegal's star defender Kalidou Koulibaly has been suspended from the team's AFCON 2019 final match against Algeria after receiving two yellow cards in the semi-final match against Tunisia on July 14, 2019.
Senegal, known as the Lions of Teranga, had secured their spot in the final after defeating Tunisia 1-0 in the semi-final match. However, their joy was short-lived as they were dealt a major blow with the suspension of their star defender.
Koulibaly, who plays for Napoli, was given two yellow cards in the semi-final match against Tunisia. The first yellow card was given to him in the 16th minute of the match, while the second one was given to him in the 74th minute after he was involved in a penalty incident.
Senegal's coach Aliou Cisse will have to find a replacement for Koulibaly in the final match against Algeria, which is scheduled to take place on July 19, 2019.
Senegal's loss of Koulibaly is a major blow to their chances of winning the AFCON 2019 title.
