On April 21, 2022, Jubilee Party Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni announced the completion of consensus interviews for candidates involved in the party's nomination process.
According to Kioni, the party had successfully completed the interviews and would now issue certificates to qualified candidates.
Speaking at the Kikuyu Council of Elders headquarters in Ruaka, Kiambu County, Kioni explained that the party had opted for the consensus route to avoid potential destabilization by rivals from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) during a primary election.
During the meeting, Kioni praised the efforts of the Kikuyu Council of Elders, led by Chairman Wachira Kiago, for mobilizing grassroots leaders from Jubilee and ODM parties to work together and promote unity in Kiambu County.
The elders pledged their support for the coalition, vowing to coordinate campaigns and ensure the capture of all seats in the region.
Chairman Kiago also used the opportunity to criticize a movement advocating for the circumcision of women in central Kenya, labeling its motives as ill-intentioned and aimed at bringing backwardness to society.
He called on government authorities to take action against the perpetrators of such vices and hold them accountable.
